Ships of Tarshish Beginning The Ink Drawing – Now we begin the ink drawing inside the celtic borders for the ‘Ships of Tarshish’ pen and ink artwork. The pencil drawing, drawn with 2H pencil and kneaded eraser will now be drawn with SpeedBall brand india ink using a crow quill pen. The nib being used for this ink drawing is a Hunt 513EF used with a Koh-I-Noor No.127 ‘Made in Germany’ nib holder.

Here are some close ups of the Hunt 513EF nib.

Light pressure on the nib produces a small gap in the quill creating a smaller, thinner line. More pressure creates a larger gap in the quill making a thicker line.
Above are two views of the progress. In my next post, I’ll include some close ups of the waves.
